About the Role
The Main Responsibilities
Follow operational documentation: guidelines, policies, processes, and standards.
Excellent technical telecommunication knowledge of DWDM, SONET, IP, Ethernet, switching technologies and power.
Learn new technologies that are continually being added to the network to meet the needs of the customer base.
Perform strenuous physical activities and be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work well with others to achieve common goals and to foster a cooperative climate.
Support ongoing testing in the areas of IP Network/Switching, Transport core, Encryption, Information Assurance and System Administration
Design, setup and configure complex switching environments.
Configuring and installing client and server network software.
Able to demonstrate computer skills.
Experience
Experience and knowledge of material and tools used by network technicians.
Ability to manipulate test set equipment.
Installation of network equipment
Install and maintain a complex CAT6 and Single Mode Fiber network.
Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications
Manage assigned projects and program components.
Understanding of the basics behind the lab network (DNS, Security, IP Routing, Optic Connectivity, etc.)
Troubleshooting malfunctions of network devices
Testing of any production network escalations
Testing of all predetermined implementation equipment
Writing skills to include test plans, test reports and IAVM reports.
Preferred Qualifications
BICSI or PE certification
Field installation or test and turn up experience.
AC/DC Power knowledge and installation experience
Familiarity and application of MIL-STD-188-125
Able to work independently and in a multi-disciplined team environment.
Skilled in IP networking, Transport, Encryption or System Administration.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience with SONET based, long-haul and metro transport networks, next-generation DWDM wavelength systems, SDH networks with SNCP rings, DCCS cross-connect systems and/or Ethernet,..
